The English haven’t always loved tea; the drink originates in China and India and didn’t become popular in Britain until the eighteenth century. Ever since then, however, England’s national love of tea has been one of the nation’s defining traits. It’s no surprise, then, that some of the world’s finest tea shops can be found in London.

Twinings

Tea seller Twinings has occupied the same location in the Strand for over 300 years. Originally called Tom’s Coffee House, the shop diversified into selling tea, first as a hot drink and then in leaf form. Today, Twinings is one of the world’s leading producers and sellers of tea. The Strand shop contains both a traditional range of teas and a loose tea bar, at which customers can choose the perfect blend of tea.

Drury Tea

The Drury Tea and Coffee Company is a London institution, having been founded in the city in the mid-1930s. The Olmi Brothers company changed its name to Drury in the 1940s, drawing on the location of the business’s offices in Drury Lane. The current shop is located in New Row, close to both Charing Cross and Leicester Square stations. Customers can choose from dozens of different teas and over 100 varieties of coffee, as well as tea- and coffee-making equipment.

Postcard Teas

Postcard Teas is a relatively new addition to London’s tea scene, having opened in 2008. Postcard specialises in fine tea and teapots from the far east. Each tin is labelled with the estate from which it originates, a practice which is rare even among specialist tea retailers but which Postcard insists helps maintain the highest level of quality. For lovers of Chinese or Japanese tea, or for anyone interested in the traditional tea culture of Asia, Postcard Teas is a required destination.

TeaSmith

TeaSmith, located in Lamb Street, is not only a seller of quality teas from around the world but also an educational institution where tea lovers can sign up for tea tastings or learn about the many varieties of leaf available. In addition, the shop contains a patisserie and sells other related products such as teapots, cups and chocolate.

East Teas

East Teas is a specialist retailer focused on tea from the far east. In addition to the well-known products of Japan and China, East Teas also sells lesser-known varieties from countries such as Taiwan, Korea and Vietnam. East Teas promotes traditional tea by working directly with growers and advocating the traditional teas popular in Britain during the eighteenth century. East Teas sells tea and deals with customers through its stall at Borough Market, one of London’s most important markets for lovers of fine food and drink.

These five shops are only a few of the many tea retailers in London, but they represent an elite group, including both traditional purists and modern innovators. Good tea is easy to find in London, but tea-lovers looking for the finest teas in the world should not neglect to pay a visit to these shops.

This article was brought to you by the Berkeley Hotel – one of London’s top destinations for afternoon tea, luxury accommodation and places to visit on a day out in the capital.

If you are a great tea-fan, here is some info you would like to read! Now you can get the best tea at very reasonable price. Yes, I am telling the truth. Victory Tea, an online shop of world’s finest tea, is offering you the best tea at a price you can afford comfortably. You can visit VictoryTea.co.uk and see for yourself.

The idea behind selling finest tea at low price is simple. Victory Tea can sell the tea at low price because it cuts down some links in the chain! These links are supermarkets, hi-end packing and flashy ads on television. And so they can afford to cut the price. You can order the tea online on their website VictoryTea.co.uk and they will deliver it at your doorstep. So all the expensive factors in the linkage of a substance reaching you from manufacturer are dropped out and so the excellent tea is available at low price. As such, Victory Tea is not a cheap tea. If it is kept on supermarket shelves, you can buy it only for an eye-popping price, just like its other high-end competitors. But as the supermarket and other factors, that increase the price, were cut down, Victory Tea comes to you at such a low price, i.e. at least as low as by 50%!

Regarding the excellence of their tea, as claimed by Victory Tea, comes through their special technique of packing. Right after the tea is picked from world’s best tea-producing locations, it is vacuum-packed by the company, which means that the air is taken fully out from the tea leaves and a huge brick is created, which locks in their freshness. Later when it reaches company’s factory in the UK, it is released, blended and packed within teabags again at a rapid speed. The teabags too undergo special gas-flushing of nitrogen and are sealed in foil, so that the freshness of garden-fresh leaves retains when they reach you! This is the best possible method to retain freshness of the leaves as claimed by the company.

Victory Tea is as such a wholesaler of teabags. It is available in various packages to suit your budget, like Victorious Box at £30, Superior Box at £16, Tea Lover Kit at £16, and pack of 80 teabags at £5. However if you don’t want to buy in such bulks, you can also buy a Trial Pack of 16 teabags at £1.50. And there is money-back guarantee too!

When you visit VictoryTea.co.uk, you also get numerous interesting and useful tips and information about tea and Victory Tea. Various interesting material like Cuppa Calculator, benefits of drinking tea, testimonials of satisfied customers and many other things are available on the site.

Till now we are used to drink the stale, oxidized tea and our taste-buds are habituated to it! Now it is time to drink real fresh tea, which will give true pleasure to our senses and will provide the necessary energy and health in form of Victory Tea!

One of the best things about ice cream is its versatility. It’s a simple treat but it also offers you plenty of ways to enjoy it. Ice cream is the perfect dessert, and there are some occasions that wouldn’t be the same without it. Let’s take a look at 10 perfect occasions that are made complete when you’ve got a heaping serving of ice cream in front of you.

A birthday party – birthday parties have been forever changed with the invention of the ice cream cake. Traditional birthday cakes are a thing of the past because everybody knows that ice cream cakes are the best. Sure they don’t actually contain any “cake” according to traditional standards, but who needs that stuff anyways? A cake composed entirely of creamy ice cream is what dreams are made of.

After work – your boss just spent two hours yelling at you, you’ve got a client whose as stubborn as a mule, and you’re thinking about quitting. You come home from work and there is only one thing that can make you happy again. It’s the creamy goodness of ice cream, and your favorite flavor has a way of making everything okay again.

At the beach – when you’re heading down to the beach for a stroll on the warm sand, you’ve got to have an ice cream cone in your hands. It just wouldn’t be summer without it.

On a date – there’s nothing more romantic than walking with your sweetie just as the summer sun is about to set. You stop off at your local ice cream parlor for a nice treat, and it’s the perfect way to end a great date. You’ve established that there’s chemistry, and you can’t wait to see each other again. But for now, you’re eating your ice cream extra slowly because you don’t want that date end.

On a dateless night – okay, so eHarmony hasn’t worked and you’re on the opposite end of the dating scale. You’re all alone and curled up on your couch about to watch another romantic movie on television. Tonight doesn’t have to be a wash – you can have plenty of fun on your own. You can dive into a tub of ice cream and drown your sorrows while living vicariously through Julia Roberts.

A good report card – you knew your kids were geniuses, and now they’ve proved it with a good report card. Why don’t you reward them with a nice big scoop of ice cream? Better yet, load all the kids into your car and head to your local parlor for a family banana split fest!

After a family meal – family meals are something of a dying breed these days because everybody has different schedules. But if you can manage to sit down and have dinner together, why not make it a complete experience? You can also spend an extra hour making homemade ice cream to top off the night, and your results might just be better than anything you buy at the store.

Apologizing to your girlfriend – you said something wrong to upset your girlfriend, and like usual, you’re not sure what it is. All you know is she refuses to speak to you, and she’s giving you the cold shoulder. No problem, all you have to do is present here with homemade ice cream sundae to get back on her good side.

The Ice Cream Man – it’s almost like Pavlov’s dog. When you hear the familiar ring of ice cream man’s truck, you have to get some ice cream. Sure it’s not the best quality product in the world, and some of the flavors are too sweet. But there’s something thrilling about spending the change you have in your pocket for a big ice cream bar that you can’t really make by yourself.

After Your Diet – you’re tired of counting calories and you decide to start living life again. After maintaining a strict diet, you don’t care how much you weigh anymore. So throw on those sweatpants and grab a spoon! Dig into that ice cream like never before because life isn’t worth living if you can’t enjoy it.

Jack Willis happens to be a huge fan of ice cream and he writes for icecreamakers.com. While he doesn’t have an official culinary degree, he does have years of experience preparing all types of food. He believes that cooking is one of the best things you can do with your family, and loves the way that food brings people together no matter how busy they are. You can visit his site for more for more information on great recipes and the best products.

The story of coffee actually begins in Ethiopia and then it will travel from one place of the world to another, as people begin to discover coffee’s most unique effect: the power to keep people awake.

Time Frame

Even though its history starts in the sixth century, it’s said that in 1000 A.D. the first coffee beans where brewed. In the thirteenth century, Muslims started to produce and drink a liquid that was made using coffee beans and in the sixteen hundreds, it’s said that an Indian pilgrim stole fertile coffee seeds from the Arab area and that’s how they were originally introduced in Europe.

History

It’s said that around the year six hundred, coffee beans were discovered after a shepherd noticed that his sheep would keep him awake at night, after they ate red coffee berries. When the shepherd ate them and realized they had the exact effects on him, he informed the abbot of a nearby monastery who eventually brewed the beans in order to help him and others stay awake at night during the long hours of prayers.

By one thousand A.D. the majority of experts agree that coffee’s popularity grew in East Africa and then in Yemen. As a matter of fact, in Yemen the first fields of coffee were cultivated in the thirteen hundreds, while from the thirteenth to fifteenth century, Mecca had hundreds of coffee houses, where people would gather around, talk and just have a great time. For several centuries, the coffee industry was controlled by the Arab area and they chose to export “infertile” and only roasted beans to Asia and Europe.

Yet a pilgrim from India stole fertile coffee beans and started growing them in Asia. In the sixteen hundreds, the Dutch have also gotten their hands on coffee beans and started growing crops. What this meant to Europe is that it was now benefitting from a direct source for its coffee. After it was introduced in Europe, the tropical European empires started producing it more and more and that’s why today places like Brazil, Jamaica and Hawaii grow coffee as they do.

Types

There are 2 types of grown coffee beans that coffee machines grind to make coffee and they number Arabica and Robusta. The latter is bitter than the former and it doesn’t have too much flavor, hence the cheapness of growing it. Around 3\4 of the coffee on the planet is Arabica. The coffee bean is the seed of an edible berry which grows on an evergreen bush. It takes a long 7 years period for the plant to mature.

Also, each berry contains 2 different types of beans or coffee seeds. Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America are the places where almost all coffee beans are cultivated in and the names of coffee blends come from the ports which export the beans. This easily explains names like Mocha and Java.

Value wise, in 2005. coffee occupied 7th place on the world’ largest agricultural export. To no surprise, the greatest coffee importers in the world are Germany and the USA.

We all love pizza, but it is not healthy, then how can you get someone who likes pizza and wants to have it at every meal to have healthy version of it that you can prepare quickly? The answer is, you can make whole wheat pizzas. Pita pizzas are the recommended go-to meal in every house, you can have it every week if you like. Pita pizzaaaaaaa…I know you all are wondering how to make it, but believe me it is tasty and very easy to make.

Whole wheat pita has something that provides a great structure and deep flavor to the pizza crust. And you can fill it up with your favorite toppings like, onions, tomatoes, kale, feta, artichoke hearts, peppers, mozzarella, butternut squash, parmesan, roasted potatoes etc.

For the below mentioned recipe I have used yellow peppers, red onions, fresh parmesan and tomatoes. It is better if you put veggies first and then add cheese on top. It only takes fifteen minutes and you will have a healthy and filling meal ready for your family.

The Ingredients (for 4 pizzas)

½ diced onion, 1 diced yellow pepper, 2 diced tomatoes, 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese, 4 whole wheat pita breads, pizza sauce.

The Directions

1. Warm pita bread using a pan or a toaster oven on low heat and chop vegetables.

2. Top 1 bread with couple spoons of pizza sauce, and a cup of chopped vegetables.

3. Top ¼ cup of cheese or as much as you like.

4. Heat these pizzas in oven until u see melted cheese, if you don’t have oven, you can do this in a broiler at 350 degrees.

Try this recipe today and let me know how was it…..I am sure you all will like it like me J

It’s cool to have a drink that’s ‘your drink’ and that’s something that most guys would agree on. Having a drink that you can call your own gives you a sense of character and individuality and is a nice way to make yourself stand out from a group of friends in the pub. It’s also great as a conversation starter as you can introduce people to your drink, and it’s ideal as a way to ensure you get bought lots of drinks too – because this way people will know what drink to buy you meaning that you can go round someone’s home and find the fridge stocked with beers you’ll appreciate, or meaning that you can leave to go to the toilet and come back to find someone’s bought you a drink. Without having ‘your own’ beverage, people won’t know which kind of drink to buy and so they often just won’t.

But it’s a big step choosing your own drink – this is something that you will become associated with for a long time to come and that will be very difficult to break out of. People hate it when you change ‘your’ beer and this means that you need to be very careful coming to a decision regarding what your drink will be. Here we will look at some pointers.

Hallmarks of a Good Personal Drink

First of all it’s important to make sure that you like the drink. Obviously this is something rather crucial, and it means that you’re looking for that drink that stands out above the others as your absolute favourite, and that you’re looking for a drink that will suit most occasions and most moods. A drink you can have when you come in from work or when you’re out on the town.

The first thing to do then is to narrow your drink down to a category. In other words you need to pick a drink from your favourite category of beverage. This might be beer if you’re a beer lover, or if you prefer whisky it will be whisky of course. If you are drinking spirits though, you also need to make sure that you find a set configuration people will know – do you like it on the rocks? With lemonade? With a twist?

The other important thing is that your personal drink be unique. This needs to be unique to you and it’s supposed to be a mark of individuality. If you make your drink Fosters and all your friends also drink Fosters then that’s not really a good way to stand out, and it will hardly be a conversation starter with new people.

How to Find Your Drink

When searching for that special drink it’s important not to force the issue – let it find you and not the other way around. You should make sure though to try enough drinks that you are more likely to find it, so for now be sure to be a bit adventurous at the bar and to try new things (carry on doing this from time to time once you have your drink too – don’t always drink the same brew).

You might want to think about some various factors that could potentially influence your decision. Are there any drinks you remember from your youth? That maybe your Father used to drink? Are you multicultural – would it be good to have a drink that alluded to your Greek heritage? Maybe alternatively it will be the name that catches your eye, or a unique look.

A sherbet gives energy, freshness and feeling of pleasure. We get the goodness of fruits and other substances through sherbets. There are a lot of substances of which we can make sherbets, like various fruits, saffron, khus (vetiver), cardamoms, nutmeg and also flowers like roses. The aroma of a sherbet gives a pleasant feeling. Let’s learn to make some delightful concentrated sherbets.

Saffron Sherbet

Ingredients

1 kg sugar

½ L water

1 tsp citric acid

1 gm saffron (mixed in a cup of water)

10-15 medium-sized cardamoms (finely powdered)

Method

Keep saffron ready by mixing it with a cup of water. Mix sugar with water, keep on flame and bring to a boil. Add citric acid. Citric acid removes all the impurities in the sugar. Boil for 10-15 minutes more. Remove from flame and add the saffron water to it. Also add cardamom powder. Again keep on flame and boil for a few minutes. Remove from fire, cool and refrigerate. While serving, mix with four-fold water.

Rose Sherbet

Ingredients and method are same as saffron sherbet, except saffron and cardamom powder. In place of saffron add 1 cup of dry rose petals. These petals are to be mixed with water. Cardamom powder should not be added as the rose petals have their own flavor and aroma.

Pineapple Sherbet

Ingredients

800 gm sugar

400 ml water

1 big pineapple (made to pieces)

A little milk

1 gm Potassium metawhite (as preservative)

1 tsp pineapple essence

1 tsp edible yellow color

Method

Prepare the sugar syrup by mixing and boiling sugar and water together. Here we won’t add citric acid to clean the sugar, as it will add to the sourness of pineapple. Instead we will add a little milk (1/2 tsp). This will also clear the sugar syrup. Add the pineapple pieces to blender and prepare juice. Filter the juice, to remove the remnants of pineapple. Since this is raw juice, preservative should be added. Also add the essence and color. While serving, mix with four-fold of water.

Lemon Sherbet

Ingredients

800 gm sugar

400 gm water

Juice of 8-10 lemons

Juice of 6 inch piece of ginger

2 tbsp Indian black salt (finely powdered)

4-5 Black pepper (finely powdered)

1 gm Potassium metawhite

½ tsp milk

Edible yellow color

Method

Do everything as told in the pineapple sherbet preparation. In place of pineapple juice, we will add here lemon juice. And for still better taste, we will add ginger juice, Indian black salt and black pepper. Because of ginger, the color of the sherbet changes to brownish. Therefore we have to add the edible lemon yellow color.

All these sherbets are easy to make and less time-consuming. The ingredients too are easy-to-get. Some condiments like Indian black salt, or dry rose leaves can be purchased from Asian stores. Make these sherbets this summer and get praises from your family and guests.

Not seeing a widget? (More info)London Broil is not a specific cut of beef, but a cooking method, one of the first meals that could be found in restaurants over the U.S. even though in England there is no such a dish. London Broil is very popular and it depends of person’s taste which is better – grilled, stuffed or marinated.

For marinated London Broil total required time is about 30 minutes, preparation and cooking time both last for about 15 minutes. The fact that it is easy and quick to be made is especially convenient for any recipe. For four persons, needed ingredients are:

top round London Broil ( 1 to half pounds, thickness 11/4 inches)

balsamic vinegar (1/4 cup)

soy sauce (1/4)

red wine, preferably dry (1/2 cup)

5 cloves of garlic (large)

honey ( a teaspoon)

black pepper (a teaspoon)

Worchestershire sauce (a teaspoon)

salt (about 1 tablespoon)

All the marinade ingredients should be combined and mixed well in order to dissolve the salt. After that, London broil meat cut should be put together with marinade in some heavy-duty plastic bag (resealable). Plastic bag should be sealed and air pressed out. London Broil and marinade should be kept on chill place for about four to six hours and turned occasionally. After that time, steak should be put on grill and grilled for about 7 to 9 minutes on every side (this time is required for medium rare London Broil). After that, steak should be transfered to a cutting board, covered with foil. It should be let stand for about ten minutes before carving. At the end, steak should be cut across the grain.

Nowadays, whatever comes on your mind, can be purchased and ordered online, so whatever coffee type you prefer, it is possible to buy coffee online. Espresso macchiato or caffe macchiato is, obviously, a very popular coffee drink made out of a small amount of milk added to espresso. Macchiato means espresso stained with milk. Nowadays, “stain” means a drop of milk added on the top of the coffee drink indicating that there is a little milk in a beverage. This “mark” served to show the waitress which cup of coffee contains a tiny bit of milk and which one contains only espresso.

There are coffee shops serving caffe macchiato in a 1:1 milk to espresso ratio, even it originally was not prepared like that. It tastes more like caffe latte than like an originally caffe macchiato, but some people prefer it that way. Also, this coffee type can be made with hot (steamed) coffee called macchiato caldo or with cold milk called macchiato freddo. What is better is hard to say and it only depends on personal taste. Me, personally, prefer macchiato freddo. Usually, the more creative the barista is, the more unique milky mark on your coffee you get. Hearts, leaves, initials and other simple shapes can be seen as a caffe macchiato marks and they always make the consumers smile. The truth about the coffee is that not only it provides you enjoyable taste and energy. Consuming coffee is a joyful, relaxing experience to gather your thoughts and to realize that life is really beautiful. Caffe macchiato can surely provide you that.
