Pour in water and bring to a boil, and then simmer for half an hour. Blend the soup in batches and return to a clean pan. Then season to taste. At the time of serving, bring again to a simmer and then ladle into mugs. Add a swirl of yogurt or sour cream and serve with bacon butties or garlic bread.
